美國前總統(tǒng)特朗普在任時期，福奇曾多次批評特朗普政府的防疫政策。而如今，即便是拜登連任，福奇仍去意已決?！度A爾街日報》認為，這顯示出福奇對美國防疫的無可奈何。
據美國約翰斯霍普金斯大學的統(tǒng)計，截至6月10日，在過去28天里，美國的新增新冠肺炎病例數高居全球榜首，單日新增病例數超10萬。美國疾控中心也在本周發(fā)出警告，稱兩種最新型、傳染性更強的奧密克戎變異株正在美國快速傳播，一些新型流行病的傳播風險也在加大。
如今，美國擁有全球最豐富的醫(yī)療資源和最先進醫(yī)療技術，但其累計確診和死亡病例數均高居世界首位，這一巨大的反差不禁令人唏噓。
